EMBCON, the traditional event of the IEEE EMBS Turkiye Chapter Students, was held this year hosted by the IEEE Marmara University Student Branch EMBS Committee. The EMBCON’25 event concluded on October 18–19, 2025, with significant participation. Bringing together leading academics, industry professionals, and entrepreneurs in the field, the conference hosted approximately 400 participants and addressed current approaches in the fields of health, biotechnology, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation.

Throughout the two-day event, the rich content offered participants the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience. In sessions prepared with multidisciplinary approaches, attendees had the opportunity to follow a wide range of presentations, spanning from scientific studies to industrial solutions and entrepreneurial stories.

Day 1 (Saturday, October 18): International Sessions & Distinguished Lecturer

The first day of EMBCON commenced with scientific opening remarks and welcomed distinguished figures in the field. The sessions, followed with great interest by the participants throughout the day, were as follows:

      • Prof. Dr. Aydın Akan (IEEE Turkey EMBS Chair): Delivered the opening speech of the conference, addressing the significance of the event and the activities of IEEE EMBS in Turkey.

      • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Saatçı: Presented a visionary perspective on the present and future of the sector with her presentation titled “Challenges and Opportunities in Biomedical Engineering.”

      • Prof. Norbert Noury (DLP – Distinguished Lecturer): Attracted attention in the international session with his in-depth presentation on “Stand Up, Walk and Fall – Fall Detection Methods and Principles.”

      • IUS Prof. Dr. Altijana Hromić-Jahjefendić: Shared her study titled “In vitro Evaluation of New Therapeutic Candidates in Lymphoma” and highlighted the importance of research in this domain.

    • Sara Goze (Founder of Cognitek Digital): Focused on the ethical and human dimensions of digital transformation with her speech titled “From Data to Honor,” in a session where she shared her industry experiences.

Following the afternoon sessions, the first day concluded with “Entertainment Sessions,” offering participants the opportunity to socialize and network.

Day 2 (Sunday, October 19): National Sessions & Paper Presentations

The second day of the conference focused on clinical applications, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship. Significant sessions bridging academic knowledge with industry and entrepreneurship were held:

    • Can Güleren (Founder of IoT Turkey): With his presentation titled “Digital Transformation with IoT and AI,” he showcased the future potential of using the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence in biomedical engineering.

    • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Zırh: Elaborated on the latest treatment methods and studies in the field of neuromodulation with his presentation on “Deep Brain Stimulation.”

    • Zafer Kasıkara (General Manager of Drager): Delivering a significant speech from an industrial perspective, he shared his experiences regarding the development of medical technologies and their integration into the healthcare sector.

    • Fatih Mert Esmer (Founder of JOIN): Informed participants by delivering a presentation on the founding story of JOIN, the privileges of being a JOIN member in the business world, and how they support young people in their career journeys.

Another significant segment of the day was the Paper Presentation and Award Ceremony, where young researchers and students presented their work. In this session, presentations by young teams developing original projects in the biomedical field received great attention.

Through the joint efforts of IEEE EMBS Turkey Chapter Students and the IEEE Marmara University Student Branch EMBS Committee, EMBCON’25 has once again successfully continued its mission to foster knowledge exchange and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration in the fields of bioengineering, biomedical engineering, medicine, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and related technologies.
